Window-Painting Commission

In 2018, I was commissioned by St. John's United Church of Christ, in Holgate, OH, to create 14 hand-painted window insulator panels. In the wintertime, the color of the beautiful stained glass of the church was often covered with thermal slats to keep the sanctuary warm.

 

I was hired to create the panels and install them on the tan insulator pieces that the church had made several years before. Most of the pieces reflect the same stories represented on the windows they cover. However, a few tie in elements from the church family instead, such as children's handprints and the church exterior itself.

Each piece is acrylic painted on blackout fabric, protected by clear vinyl.
